Given to Ministry

"In those days, when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said,"It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word."

Acts 6:1-4

Meditating upon this word for this season as I consolidate my ministry after I leave my job. :)

Restoreth our souls

"Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any tresspass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

For each one shall bear his own load."

Galatians 6:1-5

Meditating on this verse this week, as I prepare for the weekend.

Personally convicted to pray and to walk through my own life as well as the lives of my members should we have weaknesses in our lives that the devil has used and exploited.

Yet, remembering the Spirit's call for us to be gentle in restoring each other. :)

Son of Adam Son of God

I got up on Tuesday morning and was prompted by the Lord to read the Gospel of Luke when I came upon this passage.

The Geneology of Jesus Christ

Luke 3:23

"Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli...

... the son of David, the so of Jesse...

... the son of Judah, the son of Jacob, the son Isaac, the son of Abraham,...

... the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God."

the explanation given under this text is that Luke wanted to prove the authenticity of the sonship of Jesus Christ as the son of God. As opposed to the geneology given in Matthew, which traced Jesus' lineage back to Abraham only, Luke's geneology traced it back to Adam, then to God.

Most of us tend to skip this part, cos it's just a bunch of names.

But at that moment when I laid my eyes on those last words, "the son of God", I felt the Holy Spirit speak to me.

"If you are a son of Adam, you ARE my son."

It dawned upon me that we all came from Adam, either son or daughter and God calls us His sons and daughters.

I felt the love of God flood my heart and His warmth cover me. It was like the Father affirming His love for me once more.

Thank You, Lord.

You are my Father and I am Your son, in whom You are well-pleased... :)

Happy New Year!!

Hey guys! Here's wishing all of you a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Well, since I've ended my media fast, I can now blog freely on the Net! :) Woo Hoo!

Some updates:

I just finished a camp at Spark C at East Coast Park for . Woot! Great place to stay! Slept in the great outdoors, albeit at the canteen and it's only 200m away from the sea.

Ah... I miss the feeling of sleeping in the open, the feel of fresh air in my lungs and the caress of the sea breeze on my face... sweet...

Wish I can do that every night, although it'd be really bad for the back. My thigh joints hurt after being compressed at the same position for 4 hours each night.

But the really, the highlight of the camp were the kids themselves. Bunch of Sec 2 kids running around whining and clammering for attention. It was really hard, handling all their needs... it's like trying to feed a bottomless pit...

"Can we bath now?" "When's lunch?" "When's dinner?" "After this, can we go back to our hut?" blah blah blah...

heh... strangely, after they left, the camp was a little too quiet fro comfort and I thought I was mising them already...

ah... that's JJ getting sentimental again... :P

Well, going through the camp also made me realise how much I missed the outdoors. Nothing beats getting up early in the morning and taking in the fresh air and sweating it out in the hot sun. :)

Made a point to myself that I gotta get outdoors more often. Shall put that in as my new year's resolution. :)

Update 2:

New Year's Eve was really sweet too... got my buddies over to my place to just chill and relax.

We watched "Bridget Jones 2" but I think we could have picked a better movie... the British have this obssession about being laid the highest number of times. I wonder if it's for the Guiness Book of Records or they are simply too deprived...

rabbits in perpetual mating season...

That aside, we decided to go to the Pasir Ris beach to enjoy the moment of silence and just chill at the sea and drink our Bailey's.

that did not happen... as it turned out, half of Singapore was at Pasir Ris beach counting down the new year. What unfortunate turn of events. What used to be a quiet beach, where even the ghosts do not roam has become a sea of people, milling around the foot paths and bicycle tracks!

I mean, you have children running around, rummaging ice boxes at stalls for ice-creams and buggies driving around the tracks... throngs of people wishing each other Happy New Year... we were shocked...

One particular buggy went by us saying, "Happy New Year!" and Chao yang replied, "Wish you weren't here" (to himself, of course... but I caught it...)

So, we decided to head back to my place and just chill at the little stone area below my house. turned out to be the better bet, as it was quiet and more intimate.

We had our Ben and Jerry's and we got into a really deep conversation about heaven. You see Say Keat, one of our brothers just read a book by a prophetess who saw visions of heaven after a series of visitations by Jesus.

The way she described heaven made us sit up and think about what we have accomplished for Him in our lifetimes. I mean, the judgement is so strict that you're not even sure if you can make it to heaven, Christians included. In fact, the book talked about many Christians who thought they were saved, but ended up outside the gates of heaven or in hell instead... scary...

Question is: "If I were to die today, what would my rewards in heaven be?"

My personal conviction is: Don't live your Christian life based on how others are living theirs! Live your Christian life based on how God wants you to live!

We came up to my place, we talked, we prayed and we worshipped. By the time we ended, it was already 6am in the morning and they made their ways back.

Besides that, the last weeks had been truly enjoyable. :)

I had my dosage of karaoke over the Christmas holidays, caught up with my Young Adults side during their Christmas Eve BBQ. I really enjoy their fellowship; never fails to put a smile in my heart seeing how they desire for the Lord.

watched MOL 3 times... wa... can even remember some of the lines by now...

Christmas gathering at John's place where we discovered some cheating talents in the game of Win, Lose OR Draw.

Praise God! I'm really thankful for the great time I had over the holidays :)
